Pet Loss and Grief Therapy

Healing is Possible

Our pets are our family. They love us unconditionally. They are there for us on our best days, our worst days, and all the days in between. We care for them and spend our lives with them. They are integral members of our family. Goodness- what love they give us! We know the time will come when they will no longer be here with us, but we are never fully ready for that time. There’s never, ever enough time together. The immense pain of the loss cuts so deep.

Perhaps you are grieving the upcoming loss of your pet.  Maybe your pet received a terminal diagnosis. Perhaps your pet is getting older and you know the time is coming. Perhaps your pet suddenly passed away. Maybe you had to make the compassionate decision to euthanize your pet. Maybe your pet ran away or other circumstances led to you no longer having your pet in your life. However you ended up here- you are welcome. You are seen. In a society that does not understand just how painful pet loss and grief is, I get it. I deeply, deeply understand.

Working together, we will identify and develop an approach for your unique needs and goals. I will hold space for you to share your memories, feelings, and emotions in a safe, nonjudgmental, and compassionate space. We will talk about grief and navigating your feelings in a world that doesn’t understand grief. We will talk about ways to create rituals, ceremonies, and memorials to honor your pet and the relationship you have. We will discuss ways to reach out for the support you need. We will discuss ways to nourish your nervous system and heal from a holistic lens focusing on the mind, body, and spirit. We will identify thoughts you have that might not be helpful and work on catching, identifying, and reframing them. We will develop coping and healing strategies. We will find ways to bring in self-compassion and what your “new normal” looks like on this other side of loss.

With great love comes great grief. You can heal and feel better. I promise. Let’s journey down this path together- the dark, the light, and all the in-between. Reach out to me to take that step towards healing.
