Pet Loss and Grief Therapy

Healing is Possible

Our pets are not just animals; they are beloved members of our family. They love us unconditionally, offering their companionship through our highest highs, our lowest lows, and every ordinary moment in between. We care for them, share our lives with them, and they become an integral part of who we are. The love they give us is pure and immeasurable. We know that one day, the time will come when they are no longer with us, but no matter how prepared we try to be, we are never truly ready. There’s never enough time, and the pain of their loss runs so deep it can feel unbearable.

Perhaps you are facing the impending loss of your pet—maybe they’ve received a terminal diagnosis, or they are growing older, and you feel the time drawing near. Maybe your pet passed away unexpectedly, or you had to make the heart-wrenching decision to euthanize them. Perhaps your pet ran away, or other circumstances have led to their absence in your life. However you’ve arrived here, know that you are welcome, and you are seen. In a world that often doesn’t fully acknowledge the depth of pet loss and the grief it brings, I understand. I truly, deeply understand the pain you’re experiencing. You are not alone.

Working together, we will identify and develop an approach for your unique needs and goals. I will hold space for you to share your memories, feelings, and emotions in a safe, nonjudgmental, and compassionate space. We will talk about grief and navigating your feelings in a world that doesn’t understand grief. We will talk about ways to create rituals, ceremonies, and memorials to honor your pet and the relationship you have. We will discuss ways to reach out for the support you need. We will discuss ways to nourish your nervous system and heal from a holistic lens focusing on the mind, body, and spirit. We will identify thoughts you have that might not be helpful and work on catching, identifying, and reframing them. We will develop coping and healing strategies. We will find ways to bring in self-compassion and what your “new normal” looks like on this other side of loss.

With great love comes great grief. You can heal and feel better. I promise. Let’s journey down this path together- the dark, the light, and all the in-between. Reach out to me to take that step towards healing.
