The Mind-Body Connection with Polyvagal Theory Series- Part 10

Last week we talked about Mindful Sound Awareness. How did that go for you? I hope you are listening to your body, and are finding a sense of calm, safety, and regulation in your nervous system.

Today let's talk about Visualization and Guided Imagery. Specifically, we will be learning about Safe Space Visualization. As always, take what resonates and works for you, and leave what doesn't.

How to do it: Sit or lie down comfortably and close your eyes. Take a few deep breaths and connect to the inhale and exhale. Imagine a place where you feel completely safe and at ease. It could be a real place or one you create in your mind. Visualize the details vividly. Bring in all five senses. What do you see? What do you hear? What do you smell? What do you taste? What do you touch? Be as detailed as possible. Stay in this place for a few minutes.

I'll talk with you soon! -Dr. T
